Seattle had another snowstorm today.  These images are from the one we enjoyed on Sunday.  Lots of play and frolicking happening here at the Abbey today.  And our dog Winter loves to play in the snow, who would have guessed?

  1. Thank you for the pictures! They make me homesick for my midwestern farm, the hush, the holy, in all the snow. I’ve gotten there every winter except for the last 2 years.

  2. Those trees! The evergreens and the deciduous trees and their dress of snow – what a graceful delight. And the dog Winter making her name and her fun the same! Thanks!

  3. Animals can be the best teachers when it comes to learning to appreciate the gifts in the here and now! Thank you, beautiful Winter, and thank you, Christine, for giving Winter a new life.

  4. A favorite contemplative winter picture: check out the cover art for Bruce Cockburn’s recording “High Winds, White Sky.” Ottawa in winter. Sublime.

  5. Thank you, Christine, for these lovely photos. I have never experienced the quiet, stillness of the snow, so this is really wonderful for me. It is Summer here, Down Under, although not particularly hot. But I am enjoying this gift of not having the humid days we usually experience in January.

  6. Wonderful pictures just as I wondered how you folks in the NW were coping with the storm. We had a rough winter last year here in Western NC, and this year is mostly in the 50’s – day after day! The birds are singing, the bulbs are popping. I envy just a day or two of snow with its silence and stillness.

  7. Again what amazing pictures. Maybe you need to change your profession. You must use your photographs in your books!

  8. I love pic #5 . . . the turn of the ear, the flip of the tail, the raised paw, the flake-catching tongue, the smile. Yes!

  9. Oh Christine, I do love seeing Winter enjoying winter! You captured the essence of beauty, stillness and playful exuberance.
