Dear dancing monks,

We are so grateful to have you as a part of our contemplative and creative community!

It is because of your generosity that we are able to offer many free resources – such as our prayer cycles, book club, and scholarship fund –  to nourish everyone, regardless of financial capacity. You help us make what we do fully accessible to all who desire to be a part of this virtual monastery and gathering of kindred spirits.

Our series of four Prayer Cycles offer seven days of morning and evening prayer in written format, and audio and video podcasts. The prayer cycles include contributions from many vibrant writers, artists, musicians, and dancers who are compensated for their work. A fifth prayer cycle on the theme of honoring Angels, Saints, and Ancestors will be published in fall 2023 with more planned for the future.

Our Lift Every Voice Book Club: Contemplative Writers of Color is a monthly conversation focusing on a particular book that helps us to increase our diversity of perspectives on contemplative practice and enrich our understanding and experience of the Christian mystical tradition. The book club includes audio and video podcast conversations between Christine Valters Paintner, Claudia Love Mair, and the author of each month’s book selection along with discussion questions and a facilitated Facebook forum. Many of these books are written by storytellers, poets, and visual artists.

We are also committed to making all of our paid programs financially accessible. All online programs are offered with a sliding scale payment and include a free option for monthly Contemplative Prayer Services and Centering Prayer gatherings. Your donations to Abbey of the Arts help fund these free and reduced fee options on our sliding scale, as well as offer additional scholarships to all who are in need of greater financial support such as full scholarships.

Donations help fund:

  • our scholarships
  • pay presenters and contributing artists a living wage
  • cover administrative and website support.

We are delighted to now be able to offer a tax-deductible option for our U.S.-based donors.

Abbey of the Arts – Prayer Cycle, Book Club, and Scholarship Fund – is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization. Contributions for the charitable purposes of this fund must be made payable to “Fractured Atlas” only and are tax-deductible for U.S. taxpayers to the extent permitted by law.
