Invitation to Poetry: Hospitality – What will you welcome in?

button-poetryWelcome to Poetry Party #83!

Instead of selecting an image this month, we ask you to consider your Word for the Year as your poetry muse. We began this month with a Community Visio Divina practice with an image of a  threshold and the theme of hospitality, asking what you will welcome in this year and followed up with our Photo Party. (You are most welcome to still participate).  We continue this theme in our Poetry Party this month. What qualities or practices does your Word for the Year ask you to invite in as we continue to welcome in the new year?

Feel free to take your poem in any direction and then post the invitation on your blog (if you have one), Facebook, or Twitter, and encourage others to come join the party!

You can post your poem either in the comment section below*or you can join our Holy Disorder of Dancing Monks Facebook group (with more than 2700 members!) and post there.

*Note: If this is your first time posting, or includes a link, your comment will need to be moderated before it appears. This is to prevent spam and should be approved within 24 hours.

  1. In 2015 I will BUILD!

    Begin to
    Usher
    In
    Laughter and
    Dance

    I so enjoyed this, I thought of challenging myself to come up with an acrostic poem everyday, which would further help me integrate the word in my life. Here’s today’s poem:

    Bring
    Up
    Inspiration
    Love and
    Devotion

  2. W-Waiting while worshipping…weeping, wondrous this call…wider…

    I-Intuitive ground of earth and realms of Glory, initiations, isolating…

    S-Source of all desire, seeking while healing, surrendering while silent…Sabbath surroundings, sun and spacious shores…

    D-Dreaming darkness into dawn…daring…disciplined…detached when death comes

    O-One who rests with the angels …Oneness in a world of “if only”

    M-Madness balanced with Magnificence…Ministry of Light…

    Beauty,
    Donna

  3. My word is “inhabit.”

    Imagining new hope,
    Abiding…breathing…imagining…
    Transforming?
    YES. Jump!

  4. My word for 2015 is “essential.”

    Eagerly
    Silent
    Shielding
    Every
    Naming
    That
    Inhibits
    Any
    Loving

  5. My words are, Listen, See, and Honour.

    Listen for the sunrise
    See the song,
    Honour the life.
    Enter the joy,
    Live Creation.
    Welcome the Birth
    Enfolded in Love.

  6. Desire – here, God’s desire for me
    Faith is desire,
    Unquestionable
    Unquenchable
    My desire for you.
    To be where you are;
    To know your voice in a crowd.
    To see you turn when I call your name;
    For you to smile when I catch your eye.

    My desire.
    To be there in your too busy days,
    To take your hand in troubled times
    And to kiss your eyes in dreamless sleep.
    To love and be loved by you.
    To be your God
    For you to be my child.
    My own.

  7. My word for 2015: Softening
    S–Slowly
    O–opening,
    F–feeling the flow
    T–taming the tension.
    E–Everything
    N–new and nuanced
    I–inviting me
    N–nearer to
    G–God.

    Say it quietly while listening to “Moonlight Sonata”

  8. Invitation to poetry: hospitality
    my word for the year is “surrender”

    Surrender me in tenderness
    Living spirit of light

    Encircle and enfold let me drape my cloak of shame

    Contemplate me in nakedness of body,spirit & mind

    Free me from these silken cords release the ties of pain

    Merge me with the earth
    Paint me across the sky

    Drown me in the ebb and flow
    let’s drink of the devine

    Let me fall like sparkling raindrops burst like budding leaves

    Let us dance across the galaxies
    Embrace amongst the stars

    Explode my heart with petals
    a confetti made of love

    Then lay me down,
    oh lay me down In gentleness

    Lay me down in love ??

  9. BODYFULLNESS!

    B= Beauty-full
    O= Opening
    D= Delight
    Y= Yes!
    F= Flowering
    U= Unlimited
    L= Luscious
    L= Living
    N= Nest
    E= Extravagant
    S= Shining
    S= Sanctuary

  10. My word for the year is ‘Go Gently’

    Gorgeous
    One
    Greet
    Essence
    Nurturingly
    Tenderly
    Lovingly
    Yoked (to the Divine)
