Program Description

This retreat is part of our 10 month series The Mystical Heart: Love as a Creative Force.

The important thing is not to think much, but love much, and do whatever stirs you to love.” –St. Teresa of Avila

Gather with us on the feast day of St. Teresa of Avila, a 16th century Spanish mystic and wisdom guide for the soul’s journey into intimacy with the divine. Neither a lofty, nor inaccessible saint, Teresa was firmly rooted in her humanity. She teaches us the value of patience and perseverance in the spiritual life, engaging in the practices which support us in simply enjoying God and calling on that holy presence into our daily lives. For her prayer was an intimate sharing between friends.

Teresa also experienced God’s love as a transforming power that shapes and remakes us and invites us to collaborate with God in recreating the world. Join us on October 15th, Teresa’s feast day for our 3-hour mini-retreat. Claudia will provide you with some context for Teresa’s life and teachings and invite you to experience this spirited saint’s prayers through meditation, song, gentle movement, creative writing, visual reflection, time for reflection, and sharing in large and small groups.

Simon de Voil will be providing music for our retreat.

The retreat will be recorded for those who register and will be made available within 48-72 hours of the program.
