Your Heart Knows the Way Home: Songs for Death and Dying

with Te Martin

Friday, March 26, 2027

3-5pm Ireland

11am-1pm Eastern

8-10am Pacific

All of you is welcome — your joy, grief, stillness, questions, numbness, ache. Come as you are.

Program Description

This 2-hr retreat is a gathering for those who are walking with death and loss – recently or distantly, literally or metaphorically. It’s an invitation to sit in the presence of what’s ending or has ended – to listen, sing, and let death be a teacher.

Together, we will:

🌿 Learn and share simple oral tradition songs (taught call-and-response)

🌿 Reflect in silence and in conversation

🌿 Build community with others who are tending grief, transition, and loss

🌿 Engage gentle embodiment and grounding practices

🌿 Explore questions like:

  • What is dying in me or around me?
  • What are my stories of death and loss?
  • What wisdom has loss offered me?
  • How might song hold me amidst grief and loss?

You do not need to have a significant experience of loss or grief to join. All of you is welcome — your joy, grief, stillness, questions, numbness, ache. Come as you are.

🌘 What You Might Receive:

  • A space to feel and name how death and loss are present in your life
  • Songs to carry with you
  • Gentle somatic tools for grounding and regulation
  • Community presence and listening
  • An intimate, emergent space to share (or simply be with) stories of loss

We will turn on closed captioning during the live Zoom session (which you are able to turn off in your settings if you find distracting) as well as provide a video recording with closed captioning available and a text transcript of the session within 24 hours. You will be sent a notification when this is ready to view.

You have lifetime access to all online programs.

Your Guide for the Journey

Te Martin New Photo

Te Martin

Te Martin is a song-keeper and ritual artist whose work is shaped by the pacific ocean, coastal redwoods, desert gorges, circus arts, and theater games. Born on Ramaytush Ohlone land (san francisco), Te facilitates oral tradition singing spaces that center song as a tool for collective liberation, somatic regulation, and ancestral connection.

Te co-organized Thrive Street Choir in the san francisco Bay Area for six years, co-founded Mountain Song, a 4-day community singing gathering in the high desert of New Mexico, and is a student of Gaelic song and the Irish bodhrán drum.

In 2021, Te released their debut EP of original songs, Water & Bones, along with a professional music video for “May This Body Be a Bridge.”
