Program Description
Join us on the Feast of the Assumption which celebrates Mother Mary’s final journey into the fullness of the divine. Mary has many names and titles and we will focus our time on her as Mother of the Keen, Untier of Knots, and Queen of Heaven.
In the Irish tradition, Mary is known as the mother of the keen, the great cry of lament which expresses our deepest losses. Mary knew suffering intimately and journeys with us as we grieve for the violence and destruction we witness all around us, and for our own places of wounding.
In a time of great unravelling of systems and fear which knots up our hearts and hopes, how might Mary help us to bring ease to places that feel knotted and confusing. In the softening and loosening of our knotted places we are freed to find deeper clarity and guidance.
Our retreat will be soon after Lughnasa, the Celtic feast of the Harvest, when we are invited to reflect on our lives and gather in the wisdom and seeds of new possibilities for the future. Mary as Queen of Heaven invites us to step into our own sovereignty, to honor the gifts and power we each carry in service to the world.
Through music, poetry, meditation, and teaching we will honor the sacred feminine as she moves through our bodies and our lives.

Nóirín Ní Riain
Rev. Nóirín Ní Riain PhD is an Interfaith Minister (One Spirit Interfaith Seminary), an internationally acclaimed spiritual singer, theologian, writer, musicologist, and Celtic Spirituality expert. Rev. Ní Riain performs weddings, naming ceremonies, concerts, lectures, and gives workshops all over the world. She lives near Glenstal Abbey, county Limerick, Ireland. Visit Nóirín online.
