SCI Program Policies

Registration in any of our Soul Care Institute programs indicates that you agree to the following principles and policies:

Confidentiality
We require strict privacy and confidentiality with everything that is shared in discussions whether in a live or online format. You are free to share your own experience with others, but please refrain from commenting on the experience of others in the class outside of the forum.

Boundaries and Privacy
Because this program is designed as a process of support, nourishment, and challenge for Soul Care Practitioners we strongly advise against participating with a friend or colleague. We want this to be a safe space for participants to explore new awareness and growing edges in a context outside of their usual setting.

In addition, to respect and honor the need for strong boundaries, we do not allow Soul Care Practitioners to participate in the same group as their clients (for example, a spiritual director should not participate in the class with a directee.)

Honor the Diverse Wisdom Shared
We each bring a wealth of life experience to this process and we honor that others may have different perspectives on topics we hold dear. Be open to the possibility that something else may be the case. Be curious about the experiences others have had which have led them to another way of seeing things.

Responding to One Another
We ask that you keep your responses and comments open-hearted and reflective, and refrain from giving advice.

Taking Care of Your Own Needs
Find your own rhythm in the online conversations. You don’t need to respond to everything shared. Discern what feels right for you in terms of participation. Commit to regular checking in on the forum.  If you have shared something that feels especially vulnerable consider asking the group for the specific kind of feedback you desire (or none at all).

Growth and Risk-Taking
Growth and resilience happen when we play at the edges of our tolerance and comfort zones. For each of us the risk might feel different – for some it is posting a piece of art online, for others it is sharing about a movement experience, for others it is in naming something uncomfortable that has arisen in reflection – wherever you experience this we support you in bringing it to voice in the context of a safe community.

Respect Yourself and the Community
We each have full lives and different learning styles. However, it is a sign of respect to your peers and teachers to include yourself in discussions early and often. Please also respect the integrity of this work, and each other’s time and process, by not sharing the course material in other places either online or in person without previous permission.

While individual participation styles will vary, please plan to spend 5 hours per week per online class, and check in to read/respond to the discussions at least three times a week. It is part of your own self-care and commitment to not feel rushed or overwhelmed every time you log on.

Take Responsibility for Content of Conversation
If there is something you want to discuss or feel would enhance the conversation, you are responsible for bringing it up in the forum, rather than waiting and hoping someone else will.

Cultivate Systems of Support
We highly recommend that you see a spiritual director, soul friend, or therapist as you move through this program and have a place to process what arises more intensely.

All participants also agree to adhere to the following academic policies:

Tuition policy

Tuition is payable by credit card (through Paypal or Google) or check. If paying by check email Christine to let her know to expect your registration. A space will be held for five days from your email. Registration is not considered final until payment is received.

Program fee for SCI live classes

Registration closes when class is full or the day before the class begins, whichever comes first.  All Soul Care Institute programs have a limited number of participants so register early to avoid disappointment.

Cancellation Policy

Online classes – If you need to cancel your participation in an online class, if you notify us two weeks prior we will credit your program fee (minus a $25 admin fee) to a future online program within one year. Less than two weeks’ notice and your program fee is nonrefundable unless we have folks on the waiting list who can step in. Our programs have a limited number of participants so when you register we are reserving one of those spaces for you. You are making a commitment to yourself, to your fellow participants, and to the SCI faculty who are hard at work preparing the materials and space for you.

Live classes – These programs require a $300-$375 nonrefundable deposit to hold your space and the final balance is due 6 weeks prior to the program start date. Once the final balance due date has passed there can be no refunds of the program fees.
