I absolutely LOVE New Orleans. The trees are magnificent - especially at Oak Alley Plantation, inspiring much of my artwork over the years. Your photos are fantastic, as always, Christine. How I would love to get back down that way for Jazz Fest again, and beignets and cafe au lait, and walking and dancing through the French Quarter, and looking for crocodiles on The Bayou, and visiting churches - hopefully next year! I can so see myself as an old lady, accompanied by a standard poodle, creating and selling artwork at Jackson Square.

I have been there only once…three months before the hurricane…and remember those trees well. Thanks for the meditation, Christine. When I look at them, I think of the incredible beauty and the horrible devastation in New Orleans. For me, it has become a symbol of how little our country cares for poor people of color.

I hope to go to New Orleans some day. When I lived in Myrtle Beach I thoroughly enjoyed being around the old, large oaks with moss hanging from them. I really like the color/texture effects you put on your gorgeous photos here. Thanks for the visual meditation, Christine

The tree photography is beautiful. I must say that trees took a lot of my camera space when we were in Hawaii. They are just such a matter of fact statement of “Majesty.”
Thank for your sharing!

Thanks for the kind and lovely comments, the oak trees were my favorite part of New Orleans, I have never seen such an array of majestic trees!
Yes Suz, the racial disparity and poverty was very disheartening.

The photos of the mighty oaks took me home–I grew up in Louisiana and I loved the stately oaks; they seem to have souls, old souls..I miss Cajun country..I live in Colorado now. There is a mystery in the atmosphere of Louisiana..the magic blends of Creole and Cajun influence. Thank you , Christine..I love all of your work which never fails to inspire and lead me into creative introspection.
