Gazing on the Garden of the World: Visual Meditation
February 8, 2008 · by Christine
What, gazing on the garden of the world, does the heart desire?
-Hafiz

(Photos from top to bottom: Deer on the San Juan Islands (taken by my husband), seagull on the Dingle Peninsula, horse on the Aran Islands, ladybug in the Killarney Forest, cow near Newgrange, and of course Abbess Petunia on the bottom. All photos except for the first and last were taken in Ireland last summer.)

Aren’t we blessed to be able to capture these shots with our cameras. Chipping them out of stone would have been very difficult…..beautiful photos!

Thank you friends, I really enjoyed putting this meditation together. The Hafiz quote I only found afterward, but it seemed so perfect.

Thank you for this visual meditation. It’s a lovely way to enter into the weekend, a time for me when I can slow my pace and gaze on the garden in the world.
Exquisite images. Again, I want to kiss Tune — this time on her lovely nose.

For the first photo, but also in the spriit of them all:
“As the hart panteth after the water brooks,
so panteth my soul after thee, O God.”

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! I just want to reach out and touch every subject. These photos are so intimate.

These were just wonderful. THank you, Christine. The seagull legs made me laugh out loud. But my favourite, of course, is Abbess Petunia. I never get tired of seeing pics of her.
I must admit, I’m rather jealous of her unconcern at having her photo taken. I have about 100 discarded shots of Lester running away as soon as I point the camera at him hehe

All of your comments make me smile.
Thanks for the beautiful quote kigen. Elaine, I kiss Tune on that lovely nose all the time, so I pass one along to her from you.
And yes Sue, Tune is a very agreeable model.
