More Carving

December 7, 2007 · by Christine

Today has been an especially busy day with doing my elf work this morning and attending a workshop all day. So I admit that I did not get to any new art today and probably won’t. But the three prints above are from two rubber stamp carvings I did a couple of days ago while trying to come up with our new Awakening logo (see the next post for that one).  I still like these a lot, they just didn’t express the Awakening energy as well as the other one I carved.  The one on the left and right I stamped on some canvas paper that I had painted with a mix of blue and silver acrylic.  You can get a sense of how different these images look depending on the background color and ink color used.  I will use these stamps in some future collages.  So nothing profound to say about Advent today, but tomorrow is our Oblate Advent retreat and the theme is Mary’s Magnificat, so I look forward to seeing what that stirs in me.

Blessings on your weekend. May you find some moments to enter into winter’s stillness.

    Christine,
I LOVE the third…it is evocative of love and the feminine and nature…better that a Rorschach!

Hope your day at the retreat gives you a sense of peace in this holy season.

Christine, you are the only blogger, I have read sharing and celebrating Advent! Thank you so much!

I don’t know if it is celebrated in your faith, but still may I be the first to wish you a Happy Feast of the Immaculate Conception, today, December 8, which also happens to be the day Buddhists celebrate the Enlightenment of the Buddha. The timing fits well, doesn’t it, with your work on the Awakening Logo!

The Magnificat – I haven’t read that in quite a while, so I shall make time to do so TODAY. There was a time when I thought this to be a pretty arrogant speech … but learned that TRUTH can not be; Her words were/are Her Truth. The Blessed Mother is truly my hero.

I love these logos!!! The first and third have that feeling of water that I love so much. GREAT work!

Thank you lucy, Suz, kigen, and eileen!

Kigen, thanks so much for sharing the Buddhist celebration today. It is especially significant to me this morning as last night I spent the evening at a Jewish friend’s house for Shabbat and Hannukkah and she had invited three Buddhist women who were marvelous to talk to (a post about this later). The retreat I am going on today is in honor of this feast day, so I will hold this connection in my heart.

Christine – I note your response from Kigen – Kigen should visit http://countyparson.blogspot.com – nice thoughts re Advent. I am surprised at this stage in my life to discover the blessings of Advent in comparison to the blessings of Lent. Anticipation of the birth vs the anticipation of the Resurrection. I am always so surprised when the lessons I have heard about a subject again and again, for some reason, “come to life” after years and years of hearing them. Poor pastors – they preach and they preach – blessed are those who finally hear! Blessed are those who continue to preach without knowing where their words may fall.

Where do you find those blank stamp pad that may be carved? SS

  9. Christine Says:

Thank you Bette, so glad you like them. :-)

Sunrise Sister, thanks for sharing the blog resource. I posted a new post today with information about stamping tools.
