Weavings
July 27, 2007 · by Christine
I am back from several days on Vancouver Island where my husband and I took a Celtic Art and Design class together. When we were in Ireland in June I was captivated by the woven strands and spirals in the art everywhere, so it was a gift to learn how to do this. I thoroughly enjoyed the class and created several small pieces to be added to my Praying with the Elements project, which is just about ready to go to the printer — now to find a reasonably priced printshop! This was the first time we ever took an art class together and it was a delight. I have some work to catch up on and another short trip before the summer is over, but so far this summer has been a great gift and I can hardly keep up with the epiphanies I have been having. Once the traveling is done I’ll have more time to write about those. In the meantime, here’s a peek at some of the Celtic designs I created around earth, water, fire, wind, and a fun knot design. These and others will go in this booklet along with lots of photo images and some written reflections — I have had such joy putting this together. Look for your chance to order a copy in mid-August!

Blessed weekend, may you experience the unity and weaving together of all things in a simple moment of summer delight.

Thanks so much for the lovely comments! I had great fun creating these, weaving the knots is especially meditative. I am especially happy with how the tree came out. When I reproduce it, it won’t have all those grid lines and dots on it so it will look even better!
