Wow, I am way late to this party but then in the spirit of rhythms, perhaps not so much. I notice my tendency to always be seeking the next new thing yet recognizing God calling me back to ground my life in the rhythms he has established for me. This post expresses the desire of my heart. Am loving your site!!

Ah yes…rhythms! After taking the Beginner’s Haiku class at World Haiku Club, I’ve come to know that our universe is made up of rhythms. Lately, flowing waters have been on my mind almost continuously. This is my favorite line from Merton’s writing: “….the talk of the watercourses everywhere in the hollows!” For me, the hollows includes the depths of my soul as well. This morning I listen to the sun and the pond, singing a joyous duet, and together we all become one glorious song!

As I read your words, I could feel a slowing down within, a call to listen more deeply. And I took note of the many colors outside the window this moring: golden yellow leaves, red barn, green – and frosty! – grass, dying-back-gray/brown tall weeds. Part of what provides rhythm for me is hearing other’s stories, and taking time to remember… whose I am, who I am, to honor the special needs of my body. Thank you for your beautiful invitation as you ‘Awaken the Creative Spirit’ beyond the class you’re teaching. Shalom,
